#Wetlands

The invasion and building on wetlands has affected both the environment and the people.Wetland destruction has become a topical discussion during the listening sessions conducted by NAYO and partners in Chitungwiza. Most of the citizens who participated in community discussions cited that they realized the importance of preserving wetlands when the floods disaster visited their area of Chitungwiza. Some City Fathers (Council) were cited as major players in the selling of wetlands, conniving with land barons to sell the wetlands. As a way to take forward issues coming from residents through action, NAYO through Youth Against Corruption (YAC), has facilitated the stopping of wetland destruction along Mukuvisi River working closely with Environmental Management Agency (EMA).
