Zimbabwe CivActs Campaign: Issue 8

CivActs conducted a survey on the challenges faced by informal traders in Bulawayo. The informal traders indicated that they were mostly affected by lack of access to municipal services such as vending space.

The exorbitant fees charged by council for vending spaces, the complex application processes and the demand for bribes were also listed as some of the hindrances faced by vendors in trying to access vending space.

In this bulletin CivActs also shares the Bulawayo City Council (Hawkers and Vendors) By-laws of 2020 in order to empower Bulawayo vendors with knowledge on how council should be serving them.
