Joint oral statement by the ICJ and the Forum to the 44th United Nations Human Rights Council

Dear Members, Stakeholders and Partners

The Zimbabwe Human Rights NGO Forum (the Forum) in collaboration with the International Commission of Jurists (ICJ) issued a joint statement at the 44th Regular Session of the United Nations Human Rights Council on 10 July 2020. The joint statement was submitted following the presentation of the Report of the Special Rapporteur on Freedom of Peaceful Assembly and Association (SR) following his visit to Zimbabwe in September 2019.

Through the statement, the Forum and ICJ welcomed the report by the SR. The report is available here. The report notes the continued restrictions on the enjoyment of the rights to freedom of peaceful assembly and association in Zimbabwe and makes critical recommendations. The statement to the 44th Session of the United Nations Human Rights Council is available here
