CivActs and the National Association of Youth Organisations (NAYO) conducted a survey to understand how land barons and residents interact in Chitungwiza.
During the survey it emerged that a significant number of respondents felt that the local authority was not doing enough to curb residential stands corruption. About 35% of the respondents indicated that they had fallen victim to land barons through the illegal sale of land.
The concerns of the interviewed residents include being defrauded by land barons, malfunctioning sewer and drainage systems due to illegal constructions on wetlands.
