Six Vacancies for ZEC Commissioners: Deadline for Nomination of Candidates is Friday 18th February at 4.30 pm
In mid-January Parliament’s Committee on Standing Rules and Orders published press notices notifying that six vacancies would arise in in the membership of the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission [ZEC] on 6th July 2022. The notice also invited the public to nominate persons to be considered by the Committee for appointment to fill the vacancies – four (4) for female Commissioners and two (2) for male Commissioners.
This bulletin is a reminder to all interested organisations and members of the public that the deadline for the submission of nominations is FRIDAY THIS WEEK, 18th FEBRUARY AT 4.30 PM.
The Committee will in due course proceed in terms of 237 and 238 of the Constitution to conduct public interviews of qualified candidates before deciding on and submitting a list of candidates to the President. The President must then make the necessary appointments from the candidates on the Committee’s list.
It is important to note that nominations may be submitted by email to the email address specified below.
Nomination Procedure
Nomination material must consist of a typewritten submission of no more than two A4 pages long stating why the person nominated is a suitable candidate together with a completed official nomination form, a soft copy of which is attached this email.
Nominations must be addressed to the Clerk of Parliament in envelopes clearly marked Zimbabwe Electoral Commission and must either be posted, hand delivered or emailed to:
