Evictions
Almost 6000 people from Chimamukwakwa Communal lands are under threat of eviction from Gren Fuel. Green Fuel is owned by Green Fuel investment headed by Zanu PF sympathiser and President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s friend Billy Rautenbach. Osisa Director, Siphosami Malunga received a call from the Bulawayo Land Office on 14 June 2021 and was informed that the government was repossessing his family private farm
Undocumented Citizens
Following concerns raised by ZimRights, on 14 July 2021 the Ministry of Health and Child Care allowed those that presented themselves at the vaccination centers without Identification documents to be vaccinated upon producing a letter from the headman, Local Councillor or Member of Parliament confirming them as ordinarily residents.
Forced Vaccinations
Following the announcement by the Public Service Commission barring unvaccinated workers from using the PSC buses and also government announcing withdrawal of Covid-19 allowance from unvaccinated employees, companies are now forcing employees to get vaccinated. Some of the companies include The Grain Marketing Board, CBZ Holdings, Telone, Seedco. This has raised concern mainly by trade unionists on possible violation of human rights.
Uncertainty of By-elections
Justice Minister Ziyambi Ziyambi contributing to parliamentary debate on the Zimbabwe electoral commission report for the year 2020 on 22 July 2021, said polls would only take place upon achievement of the vaccination targets of 10 million people or 60% of the population. This is despite the fact that a number of constituencies and municipalities remain unrepresented following recalls and deaths.
Corruption
On 1 July 2021, a US Based group, the Sentry published a report “Shadows and Shell Games: Uncovering an Offshore Business Empire” which exposed potentially corrupt practices by Kudakwashe Tagwirei a close government ally and government officials. The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission has been silent since the release of the report despite appeals by activists to investigate the allegations.
