The government suspended cushioning allowance of 400 RTGS allocated to civil servants in July 2019. Civil servants received an equivalent of June salaries in August 2019. The cost of living in August is far much higher than that of July.
Civil servants used to earn US$ 500 before October 2018 but their salaries have been slashed to around US$30. They are living in extreme poverty.
Action: On Friday 23 August we invite all teachers to convene at Finance Ministry offices beginning 1000hrs to mourn our salaries. All mourners to wear black.
