Amalgamated Rural Teachers Union of Zimbabwe (ARTUZ) President Obert Masaraure has been remanded in custody at Chikurubi Maximum Prison until 25 January 2019. He was denied bail by the Harare Magistrate Court after appearing facing trumped up allegations of subverting a constitutional government.
President Masaraure was abducted at his home by armed gun men and was tortured before being handed over to the police today, 19 January 2019.
We condemn the persecution of Masaraure, Chere and all other activists. This persecution is meant to delay the people’s struggles, we however remain resolute and stand by our leadership.
