Members of Amalgamated Rural Teachers’ Union of Zimbabwe, ARTUZ and other revolutionary teachers will embark on second phase of our planned job actions this week. On the 8th and 9th of November we are once again withdrawing our labour in protest against underpayment.
We demand our salaries in United States dollars as negotiated and agreed in 2012.
We note the arrogance of the employer who has given a deaf ear to our noble call for conditions of living adjustment of our salaries. It is our deep rooted conviction that our series of protests will eventually melt the cold arrogance and our salaries will be paid in US dollars. Victory is certain.
The call for job action is hereby extended to other revolutionary teachers who are determined to fight for labour justice in our life time. Legal cover is guaranteed for all those who will participate.
We note that a Sister Union, Progressive Teachers’ Union of Zimbabwe, PTUZ will be staging a street protest on the 9th of November. We urge comrades close to Harare to join the protest. We reiterate our position that we don’t seek to compete with other Unions but to compliment progressive action. In the spirit of the Federation of Zimbabwe Educators’ Union, FOZEU we stand shoulder to shoulder with those who stick their necks out to emancipate the working class.
Let’s close down school business from 8 to 9 November.
