The Election Situation Room (ESR) calls for the promotion of peace and constitutional order in Zimbabwe during this post-election period. Political parties should quickly check the presidential results to allay all tensions, encourage their supporters to remain calm, peaceful and refrain from violence. Furthermore, Zimbabwe Election Commission should release presidential results immediately after the verification process. The law enforcement agent – The Zimbabwe Republic Police should be at the forefront of restoring order. The ESR strongly condemns the use of excessive force and the loss of life. Political parties should use the electoral dispute mechanisms in place when aggrieved. The ESR regrets the loss of life and urges the different players to respect the human life. The ESR extends their condolences to the families of the deceased persons.
