ALOOTA CONTINUA – The Looting Continues

The Auditor-General special report on Covid-19 resources management tabled in Parliament on 3 August 2021 reveals details on the processing of payments to beneficiaries with fictitious I.D numbers and suspicious names. According to the report, “National task force and the Government as a whole need to develop systems and procedures that would facilitate adequate controls to avoid leakages, maintenance of adequate documentation for accountability and transparency, efficiency and effectiveness in service delivery to achieve intended objectives and effective communication to limit instances of literal decision making without due regard to laid down procedures that are meant to safeguard public resources.“

COVID-19 Taught Us Nothing About Equality

Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube during budget review said the government had committed $269.5 million in 2021 towards the construction of a VVIP hospital at Manyame Airbase in Harare. Just as we thought COVID-19 taught us to upgrade our health facilities to avoid being treated in foreign countries, the government leaders have decided that if COVID – 19 stops them from flying out for treatment, then they would rather build special hospitals for themselves instead of simply reforming the healthcare system for everyone.

Business Tramples on Human Rights in Chinyamukwakwa – Thousands Displaced

Thousands of villagers were driven off their communal land in Chinyamukwakwa, Chisamba, and had their crops destroyed by Green Fuel. Green Fuel is owned by Green Fuel investment headed by Billy Rautenbach a politically exposed person linked to the ruling ZANU PF party.

Pampering losers with State Resources

On 30 July 2021 President Emmerson Mnangagwa handed over 19 Isuzu D-Max vehicles to leaders of the Political Actors Dialogue (POLAD) which participated in the 2018 presidential election. There is no law that supports the existence of POLAD. There is no clarity on where the resources for the cars came from.
