Press statement from Zimbabwe Nurses Association

It is highly regrettable that our cause of collective job action has been highly politicised. This has portrayed us in a bad light.

If you recall, government said it had offered us US$ 17.1 million payable on 19 April but this promise never came into fruition because they sighted that they can only pay those on duty. Since the announced summarily dismissal of Nurses no negotiation has taken place with the employer because we are deemed dismissed.

To pave way for re-opening of Negotiations and protection of our Workers we have decided to call off the Industrial Action.

The scheduled meeting with the minister today did not take place.

Our recent application still remains on course and papers have been saved to the defendant and we anticipate the court to seat soon to determine our case.

We therefore encourage all our members to report on duty by Monday.
