Residents clash with municipal police

Residents of Dzivarasekwa 3, Ward 39 today, September 6, 2017 clashed with municipal police as well as officers from the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) after they (the residents) resisted eviction from council rented houses.

Council claims the residents have not been paying their dues hence the move to eject them.

However, the residents claimed they were not given letters of final warning or demand as per procedure and resisted the directive to move out of the council houses.

This resulted in clashes between the residents and the municipal police and according to reports so far, one police officer was injured during the clashes.

The residents have vowed to protest against their eviction at Town House.
